Minerals processing technology orders from Mexico for Outotec

Posted on 14 Oct 2013

Outotec has minerals processing technology orders, to be delivered in the second half of 2014, for four greenfield concentrators and one expansion from Grupo Peñoles. The orders, worth over €47 million include altogether 148 Outotec TankCell flotation cells, nine Outotec High Rate thickeners and automation packages, including Outotec PSI particle size analysers, Courier 6i SL high performance XRF on-stream slurry analysers and samplers for the Rey de Plata copper and lead concentrator, San Julian Vetas zinc concentrator and Saucito Plant II silver and gold concentrator.

Outotec will also deliver six thickeners to the expansion of San Julian gold concentrator and provide installation and commissioning services and spare parts for each project for one year. Outotec’s advanced on-line analysers provide information, providing real-time process control and optimisation. Particle size monitoring and control improves the average grinding and flotation circuit throughput and availability while maintaining the target grind. The grinding control also improves downstream process performance, reducing reagent consumption and increasing metal recoveries. On-line elemental analysers provide real-time assay information to plant operators and process control systems for optimising flotation circuit recovery and concentrate quality. Reduced energy and water consumption realise sustainability targets.

“Industrias Peñoles and its subsidiary Fresnillo PLC are already widely utilising Outotec’s process technologies and equipment with proven performance. These investments will further improve the productivity and performance of their concentrator plants ensuring high yield and efficient operations far into the future”, states Jari Rosendal, head of Outotec’s businesses in the Americas.
