Bridgestone is Newmont Mining’s 2013 Global Supplier of the Year, as well as its Regional Supplier of the Year in South America, for its commitment to operate safely, reduce operating costs and improve efficiencies. “Bridgestone’s innovative product development, testing and repair systems resulted in Newmont achieving significant cost savings and productivity improvements including certain tyres in 2013 reaching a tyre life more than twice the historical performance,” said Melanie Miller, Newmont’s Vice President, Global Supply Management.  “This year was the first time we awarded one company both the global and a regional award.”

Newmont’s supplier awards program recognises top vendors at its annual Supplier Summit. Nominees are evaluated on their contributions toward creating operating efficiencies, developing strong relationships and embracing Newmont’s values in worker safety, environmental protection and social responsibility.

Bridgestone supplies Newmont with off-the-road tyres, which are used throughout Newmont’s global fleet of haul trucks, loaders and other heavy equipment. Bridgestone has been part of Newmont’s global alliance of suppliers since 2011.
