Pioneer Pump, the global manufacturer with operations in Europe, Africa and America, recently expanded its UK rental presence with the acquisition of Performance Pump & Equipment (PP&E), a Wigan based pump rental company. Operating from three locations in Petersfield, Bridgwater and Wigan, PP&E has been a customer of Pioneer Pump Ltd, the UK factory, since 2002 and operates successfully in the UK construction, water and infrastructure markets using a fleet of mounted pumpsets preferred by the customers in those markets for their ease of handling and operation.
PP&E will continue to operate alongside Pioneer Pump Solutions, focusing on the UK national infrastructure markets while Pioneer Pump Solutions, the group’s specialist rental company, retains its strategic focus on the global mining and minerals as well as energy markets through the rental of high flow and high head pumpsets. Commented Dennis Mitchell, Chairman of PPS, “We set up Pioneer Pump Solutions as a specialist rental pump rental company because the European market lacked rental access to a fleet of high flow and high pressure pumps generally used in more industrial applications such as those seen in the oil industry. This strategy is highly focused and is proving successful. Recognising the value of the UK infrastructure markets, Pioneer added PP&E because it is an established business that is already serving the needs of that market.”
Another customer benefit is that PP&E will now be able to access much larger equipment, such as the 300 and 450 mm pumpsets owned by Pioneer Pump Solutions , for projects their customers previously had to go elsewhere for. Combining their local knowledge and close customer relations with the resources of Pioneer Pump Solutions will enable PP&E to expand its turnkey approach in the dewatering and sewage bypass markets, their areas of primary focus. Dave Berry, General Manager of PP&E commented, “Previously, we have been asked to undertake larger projects but had to say no due to fleet limitations. That is no longer the case. With access to the Pioneer Pump Solutions fleet, we are able to handle much larger projects with higher flow requirements. I look forward to adding that business.”
