Alphamin Resources has released a maiden NI 43-101 compliant inferred mineral resource of 4 Mt at 3.5% Sn for 141,200 t of contained tin for the Gecomines target within its Bisie project in north east DR Congo. The best results were reported from the four deepest holes drilled to date and further exploration will focus on the deeper levels of the deposit. A preliminary economic assessment of the project, based on bulk underground mining, will be held back until this is done.
Downer EDI has received a notice of award for a 4.5 year contract with Roy Hill Iron Ore for the provision of early mining services at the Roy Hill open-pit iron ore mine in the Pilbara, Western Australia. Under this contract, Downer will be performing pre-strip and supplementary mining activity over the initial years while Roy Hill will be predominantly undertaking mining on an owner-operator basis. According to Roy Hill Iron Ore, the operations “will apply cutting edge technology, remote operating control, high levels of automation and cross industrialised methodologies to achieve reliable, sustained and low cost production of iron ore that is known in the market for its quality and grade.”
Midlothian Council granted consent to Hargreaves Services for a new surface mine at Cauldhall Moor near Rosewell, Scotland. The project will create up to 230 full time mining jobs and hundreds of additional posts in the local supply chain. Almost 10 Mt of coal will be mined over a ten-year period
David Vint, General Manager, ArcelorMittal Mining told International Mining about the company’s expansion plans. The iron ore growth target is on track for 84 Mt capacity by 2015. The ArcelorMittal Mines Canada (AMMC) expansion is complete involving expansion of Mont Wright mine at AMMC and concentrate capacity to total 24 Mt/y (from 16 Mt/y post operational improvements) concentrate and pellets, expansion capitalising on existing infrastructure, product quality, experienced workforce and advantageously located with easy access to European/US markets
Inca One Resources has announced that it has completed the first sale of gold rich carbon and subsequent gold pour from its operations at the company’s 100% owned Chala One Plant located in the Region of Arequipa, 620 km south of Lima, 3 km off the Pan American in the town of Chala, Peru.
