Mocap manufactures a self-fusing silicone tape.  It is particularly suitable in underground mines for insulating electrical and communication connections against moisture, salt, and general deterioration.  This tape is pure silicone and has no adhesive.  It has a 300% stretch so users can stretch the tape around motor connections, for example, similar to heat shrinkable, but with no heat.  The tape only bonds to itself. It should be particularly applicable where mines are experiencing corrosive problems. The silicone tape will stretch, sealing out moisture and contamination.  The tape is permanent, as it has no adhesive to break down.
