Posted on 3 Jun 2014

Tenova Mining & Minerals’ furnace specialist Tenova Pyromet has been awarded a significant contract by KCC Engineering & Construction (KCC), South Korea, to build a mineral wool facility. Consisting of two electric arc furnaces, the new project will modernise KCC’s mineral wool production facility to reduce emissions and increase efficiency. The contract is due to be completed in mid 2016. Tenova Pyromet will provide its latest furnace technology, developed over many years, ensuring that KCC owns and operates a worldclass facility.

The electrode system has been proven in many applications, and will provide benefits to KCC in functionality and performance. The scope of work includes design, supply, supervision and process and equipment guarantees for the complete furnaces, the power supply and automation systems.

“This order has underpinned and affirms Tenova Pyromet’s position as an international first choice supplier of mineral wool furnaces. The order also demonstrates that Tenova Pyromet is the ideal partner for specialised smelter projects,” says Chris Oertel, Managing Director Tenova Pyromet.  “This is a proud addition to Tenova Pyromet’s track record in mineral wool projects, which includes a major facility recently executed successfully in the USA.”
