Simon Houlding, EduMine’s division manager, was a 2015 CIM award winner last week. He was awarded the Vale Medal for Meritorious Contributions to Mining at a ceremony held in Montreal by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. The president of InfoMine, Andy Robertson (inducted into the International Mining Technology Hall of Fame this year), congratulated Houlding.

“It is great to see that the years of extremely hard and dedicated work, inspirational development and leadership so appropriately recognized,” said Robertson.

“The recognition is handsomely deserved. You have done so much for so many and touched so many in their career path development and this is a fitting tribute.”

Houlding is a Vancouver-based professional engineer with an MSc. (Eng.) from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and an international practice providing services for information management, computer modelling and education to the environmental, resource and geotechnical sectors. He has specialized in 3D computer modeling applications in the geosciences since 1979, including development of modelling, geostatistics and spatial analysis techniques that have become accepted practice in the geosciences, and was the founder and technical director of Lynx Geosystems Inc.
