ASGCO’s new Razor-Back Retractable System can be accessed and removed from outside of the chute, without breaking the plane of the conveyor. The ASGCO engineering department has developed the technology after customer feedback and delivered “a product with all of the cleaning efficiency of our patented Razor-Back cleaners, now with unparalleled service access.” This innovative design greatly reduces downtime and eliminates the need for confined space permits.
The technology is described as ideal for coal fired power plants, hard rock mining, steel mills, iron ore, aggregate, phosphate, potash, salt and other ore mining. Key features include resilient blade support that absorbs severe shocks in the toughest underground mining applications; independently moving blades to maintain contact; durable 3.5 in thick square tubing for extreme environments; universal mounting for easy installation; heavy duty tungsten carbide of Hd400 blade availability; and an MDX carbide system that is three times heavier than in any other industry. The compact design requires less than 9 in of clearance to be installed and maintained; while it is safe for mechanical splices and belt speeds of up to 5 m/sec.
Benefits are elimination of material build-up, long wearing abrasion resistance, as the tungsten carbide blades provide and maintain a maximum effective cleaning edge against the conveyor belt; a quick change slide out mounting system; and impact absorbing tension cushions that tension each individual blade to the belt for a controlled and effective conveyor belt cleaning across the entire width of the belt.
