BMT WBM showcases Avant-Garde simulator at Expomin 2016

Posted on 11 Apr 2016

BMT WBM Machinery (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group, a leading international maritime design, environmental and engineering consultancy, will showcase its latest innovation at Expomin 2016 in Santiago, Chile April 25–29. BMT will use Expomin as a platform to showcase its leading-edge shovel training simulator technology which focuses on production, maintenance and safety improvements.

Paul Charlton, Managing Director of BMT WBM Machinery comments: “Our training system provides realistic motions, dig cycles, wrap-around virtual reality and acoustic environment feedback which have all been calibrated with real life operational measurements.”

Stress outputs from the simulated shovel physical model are provided to our Pulse TerraMetrix shovel monitoring system for real-time diagnostics. Classroom and mobile container options are available and relevant operating inputs are configurable by the trainer. Automated assessment of trainee performance is provided and trainer notes can be appended to each simulation.

Charlton continues: “The simulator demonstrates how BMT’s multi-disciplinary capabilities can deliver bespoke engineered solutions to meet all of our clients’ requirements.  Leading-edge software models of all physical systems requires significant computational resources to produce dynamic structural and terrain digging responses in real-time.  These responses can then be effectively presented to the trainee operator.  We’re looking forward to engaging with industry stakeholders at Expomin and further showcasing the simulator’s unique capabilities.”
