Maptek, developer of Vulcan, and ARANZ Geo, developer of 3D geological modelling software Leapfrog®, have agreed to provide seamless interoperability between their two lead software solutions.

ARANZ Geo’s Managing Director Shaun Maloney says, “ARANZ Geo understands the growing importance of interoperability between best of breed software solutions in the mining sector. In fact, the industry is demanding it. We are pleased to work with Maptek to ensure our common customers can benefit from the ability to move their data and models between our software solutions.”

This view is shared by Peter Johnson, Managing Director Maptek who adds, “Through the agreement with ARANZ Geo, the Maptek Link will provide assurance to Vulcan users that seamless interoperability with Leapfrog will be maintained. We know integration is important to our customers and this new arrangement gives us a framework which enables a well-supported, coordinated data connection in collaboration with ARANZ Geo.”

The Vulcan 00t file format is a proprietary format owned by Maptek. It allows for the seamless transfer of meshes in, and out of Vulcan. Previously, Leapfrog Geo users were able to access the Vulcan 00t file format by default but there was no guarantee that such interoperability would be maintained. The Maptek Link, as it is termed, enables Maptek and ARANZ Geo to guarantee interoperability for the term of the Maptek Link licence. All new Leapfrog Geo customers and any existing Leapfrog Geo users that upgrade their software will be able to purchase the Maptek Link.

The Maptek Link will be available with the release of Leapfrog Geo version 3.1.2 on October 18.
