ABB is launching its new Tailored Solutions and Services for drive systems at SPS IPC 2016, Europe’s leading exhibition for electric automation being held in Nuremburg from November 22-24. The new package “is designed to help drive system operators across all industries to benefit from enhanced business continuity, increased productivity and environmental-efficiency while ensuring legal compliance services cover retrofit, upgrade and replacement, engineering customisation and energy optimisation. Most importantly the package offers future-proofing with Internet capabilities for all types of ABB or non-ABB drive systems.”
“Our experience shows that many drive systems in use today are obsolete, but operators are reluctant to modernize them for fear of losing production over an extended period,” said David Bates, Head of Engineering Services, ABB Drives and Controls “Our new offering is specifically designed to address this challenge through fully customised service solutions that minimise downtime and maximise performance In many cases, our upgrade and retrofit services require only half the downtime of traditional approaches, while reducing risk”
ABB’s new service offering provides full project management and customisation solutions to meet specific needs, whether in entirely new applications or in managing the obsolescence risk of existing equipment It covers every kind of drive system, whether medium- or low-voltage, air-cooled or liquid-cooled, DC, LCI (Load Commutated Inverter) or AC multi-drive, from both ABB and other drive manufacturers.
“ABB engineers can deliver expert energy, productivity and whole lifecycle assessments, and then develop a plan to reduce energy consumption, improve productivity and enhance asset efficiency while paying close attention to safety, operational costs and environmental impact. The new package includes application-specific engineering solutions, for example for winches, cranes, pumps, fans and test rigs. The FAST retrofit solution is just one example of ABB’s new tailored services that contribute to reduced downtime during drive modernisation. It is one of the variants of the retrofit service and incorporates standardised components which are frame-mounted and tested prior to installation to offer a ‘plug-and-play’ solution.”
ABB says its drive modernisation services are designed to help operators to bring their drives up to the latest technological level. “This also provides operators with access to innovation in other areas, such as predictive remote condition monitoring enabled by Industrial Internet of Things solutions.”
“ABB is known for providing great support for our own equipment,” added David Bates. “What is less well known is that we can also help with non-ABB drive systems We are now offering operators in any high-demand, high-process industry greater choice and improved support to help them address their most challenging business objectives.”
