Cummins offers upgraded QSK60 for powergen

Cummins has launched its latest natural gas generator set across all 50Hz regions.Supplying electrical efficiency of up to 43.8%, the upgraded QSK60 gas engine can reduce total cost of ownership for its customers and deliver world-class power efficiency. Govindaraj Ramasamy, Director of Projects Delivery Organisation for Cummins, said: “Given fuel costs constitute the largest portion of total cost of ownership, any gain in efficiency can translate to significant savings for the users. With C1540 N5CC, we are extremely pleased that we can deliver stellar efficiency and savings to our customers.”

In today’s competitive energy generation market, where profits are being squeezed from all sides and reliability in hardware is critical, this cost saving can be re-channelled into other areas of a customer’s core business. The newest member of the QSK60 Series, the C1540 N5CC, “offers new customer options that make it a perfect fit for both independent power producer (IPP) and combined heat and power (CHP) applications.”

Cummins is a global provider of power generation systems, with a global support network. As a full system provider, Cummins says it provides end to end solutions for a number of applications such as base load power and combined heat and power to meet the needs of a diverse customer base, which includes mining operations, with customers including Cloudbreak, Ambatovy and many others.

According to Ramasamy this enables customers to recognise increased ‘time per year availability’ with reduced downtime and cost of maintenance to meet their objectives. The upgraded QSK60 series is described as ideal for integration into new or existing cogeneration and trigeneration plant.
