Metso gets safety award from Las Bambas

Metso has received an award from Minera Las Bambas for achieving the goal of zero incidents during plant shutdowns. The shutdowns took place from September 2016 to June 2017, totalling 50,000 hours of work without any incidents.

“We are impressed by Metso’s commitment to ensuring safety during the shutdowns in the past year. Safety comes first, and we are delighted to see that for Metso, safety is an integral part of every process and assignment,” says Manuel Valverde, Maintenance Manager, Minera Las Bambas.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition. Our work at the Las Bambas mine demonstrates our ability to deliver services consistently in line with our own standards in health, safety, and environment (HSE), as well as our customers’ HSE requirements and applicable regulations. We at Metso have a strong mindset towards preventing incidents and towards continuous improvement,” says Aldo Cermenati, Senior Vice President, Pacific Rim Market Area.
