From October 16 to 19, the China National Convention Center was host to the SAE 2017 International Powertrains, Fuels & Lubricants Meeting (PF&L) attended by 642 attendees from over 20 countries. The annual PF&L has become one of the most renowned global technical conventions on powertrains, fuels and lubricants since it began in 1933. The event had energetic support from Prof. Shijin Shuai (pictured), State Key Laboratory of Automotive Safety and Energy, Tsinghua University, Prof. Hongming Xu, Birmingham University, Thomas Wallner, Argonne National Laboratory, Prof. Bengt Johansson, King Abdullah University of Science & Technology, who were chairs of this meeting, as well as more than 10 industrial experts.
Dr. Jun LI, Academician of CAE and Vice Chief Engineer of FAW, Dr. Steve Bryce, VP of Shell Technology Centre Hamburg, Dr. Wayne Eckerle, VP of Cummins, Ahmad Al Khowaiter, CTO of Saudi Aramco, and Neville Jackson, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer of Ricardo respectively presented keynote speeches entitled Technology Development Analysis on Low Carbon for Power of Heavy Duty Commercial Vehicle in China, Powering Progress Together – Innovation through Collaboration, Future Cummins Powertrains and Implications for Future Fuels and Lubricants Systems, Overview of Global Transportation Fuel Supply, Trend of Future Automotive Engine Technology.
Two special sessions to discuss issues related to “Meeting China 6 Light-Duty PN Regulation” and “Clean Fuels for Future High Efficiency Engines Symposium,” where experts from China MEP, European Commission, petrochemical & materials leaders including Kunlun Lubricant, Sinopec, Saudi Aramco, Shell, Afton, Lubrizol, Chevron, Corning and BASF, as well as leading experts from automotive industry and colleges delivered speeches on regulations and policies, powertrain technological path, clean fuels, advanced engine technologies etc. 245 papers were published.
The 2018 PF&L will be held in Heidelberg, Germany from September 17 to 19. The deadline for submitting paper offers is February 12, 2018.
