More success for Mine Master in Estonian oil shale

Another two Roof Master 1.7 bolting rigs from Mine Master were successfully commissioned in late October in one of the underground oil-shale mines in Estonia and are the ninth and tenth rigs respectively of this type sold to the same customer.

In total the client currently uses 22 machines from Mine Master production including both drilling and bolting rigs. The oldest machine is 10 years old and it is still in operation. Mine Master states: “Such long lifespan of the equipment is the result of an excellence maintenance and overhaul plan carried out by the staff of the mine.”

The Roof Master 1.7 is a mechanised roof bolter, designed for bolting roofs and walls in low seams (minimum height 2 m). The drilling system of the unit enables the operator to drill holes for bolts in rock of compressive strength of up to 240 MPa. Dry drilling is performed by the rotary method which has the added advantage of very efficient dust collection system. The unit is designed to install both friction and resin bolts of length 1.6 or 1.8 m by a single operator.
