Symboticware Inc, an industry leader of standardised information-based technology to enhance mining productivity, sustainability, profitability and safety through real-time data management solutions, is holding a reception on March 12 to celebrate the recent opening of its Tucson, Arizona-based US/Mexico headquarters.
The company provides an industrial IoT hardware and software platform to help mining customers unlock, collect and analyse valuable data from their industrial mobile and fixed assets to help improve business outcomes based on: optimising productivity; identifying opportunities to increase efficient use of their resources; increasing equipment availability through better condition and preventative maintenance; and enhancing safety by real-time feedback to operators. Originally developed for monitoring in underground mining, Symboticware technologies are used in many remote and rugged applications. The company also recently announced the launch of a new Asset Reliability Service Platform. This service platform empowers mining operations to maximise productivity through innovative, world-class maintenance strategies.
The SymBot is the sensor network interface for Symboticware’s data collection platform. It collects data from sensors, stores timestamped data into an internal database and, using Symboticware’s patented store-and-forward technology, transmits the data over existing infrastructure to SymView, the centralised server and data aggregator. The SymBot has been designed, built and tested for tough environments both physically and technologically: developed for underground mines, it can withstand harsh physical conditions as well as perform when offload connectivity isn’t always available.
Justin Johnsen, VP North America, will lead the team from the Tucson offices, as they focus on collaborating with regional customers on Asset Reliability Services to include Criticality Analysis, Failure Mode Analysis, Condition-based Maintenance, and Performance Metrics. The office plans to grow rapidly with the hire of 20 high-tech professionals in the next five years. “As a key regional mining corridor, Tucson, Arizona is what Sudbury is to Ontario,” said Kirk Petroski, President and CEO of Symboticware. “When our first offices opened there in 2008, our focus has been on the development and advancement of technology for the mining industry.
