LASE senses mining growth options in Australia, South Pacific

Posted on 1 Aug 2019

LASE, a leader in laser-based sensor and measurement applications, has opened a new office in Perth, Western Australia, as it looks to support its growing base of Australia customers in mining and other industries.

Lars Mohr, who has previously worked as Sales Manager at the LASE branch office in Bremen, Germany, has been appointed General Manager for LASE’s expansion into Australia and the South-Pacific region, which is focused specifically on the mining, port, steel and logistics industries.

LASE’s technology is used in several applications within mining, including measuring material on heap leach pads,  checking the fill level on wagons and optimising the distribution of material for stackers/reclaimers.

From the new location, LASE’s 2D and 3D laser measurement systems will not only be distributed within Australia, but also to New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

LASE is also the distributor within the mentioned regions for two other well-known German brands also active in the mining, port and steel industries. One of the two companies is the coupling technology manufacturer MAT Malmedie Antriebstechnik and the other is encoder manufacturer Johannes Hübner Fabrik elektrischer Maschinen.

In addition to its German offices and recently added Australia base, LASE has offices in Shanghai and Kolkata.
