In-Pit Crushing & Conveying 2020 event set for Cancun, Mexico on May 21-22

We have great pleasure in announcing that the sixth in the series of our biennial In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC) conferences is to be held in Cancun, Mexico at the Hyatt Zilara hotel on May 21-22! The IPCC event is a rare beast – a conference dedicated to a particular mining approach that is truly global and actually moves to different mining hubs every two years, allowing mining companies, contractors, equipment OEMs, engineering houses and consultants with IPCC interest to come together in new regions where this type of mining is already happening or is being considered. To date the IPCC event has been held in Brazil, Indonesia, Chile, Germany and South Africa. Mexico seemed a natural choice, situated between the North and South American continents and having its own IPCC operations such as FLSmidth’s semi-mobile system at Goldcorp Penasquito or the MMD sizer at Vulcan Materials’ huge Sac Tun limestone quarry.

The annoucement comes after much market activity so there will be a lot of talk about. Trials of an IPCC solution with mobile conveyors at BHP’s Spence operation are ongoing, Tenova TAKRAF is installing two IPCC systems at Metalloinvest’s Lebedinsky and Mikhailovsky iron ore operations and Mikhailovsky has a new high conveyor from NKMZ, similar to the famous installation at Navoi’s Muruntau gold mine in Uzbekistan. New FAM bucketwheel excavators have been put into operation at the Zaldivar and Radomiro Tomic copper operations. The four semi-mobile in-pit crushers at FQM’s Cobre Panama operation are up and running. Vale has upped the production capacity of its huge truckless S11D iron ore operation to 100 Mt/y by 2022. Lastly, MMD’s innovative Surge Loader is under construction at Rio Tinto’s Bingham Canyon copper operation in Utah in the USA. And all these are just a selection of what’s happening currently!

Offers of presentations are welcome from all interested parties including miners that may be running IPCC systems, having them built or conducting IPCC feasibility studies; to equipment OEMs that supply the crushing and conveying equipment and designs themselves. Please get in touch with IM Events Directors Paul Moore ([email protected]) or Daniel Gleeson ([email protected]) if you would like to present with a short synopsis of what you intend to cover. Finally, there will be as usual sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities, please also let us know if interested as soon as possible.
