Process IQ, Orway and Perseus Mining pick up METS Ignited award for work at Edikan mine

Process IQ, Orway Mineral Consultants and Perseus Mining Ltd have picked up the METS Ignited Collaboration Award 2019 for their work at the Edikan gold mine in Ghana. The award was announced at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) 2019 Gala Dinner last week in Melbourne. The solution implemented by the consortium partners included the installation and use of MillSlicer instrumentation, MillStar (model-based control system) and Orway IQ’s MillROC which facilitated real time comminution modelling and analysis to be conducted by Orway IQ experts.

Process IQ and Orway Mineral Consultants formed Orway IQ a JV to deliver MillROC, harnessing the expertise of both companies as well as the site and corporate metallurgical expertise of Perseus Mining. This collaboration between the operation, consultant and process control has translated into significant benefits for Perseus Mining at their Edikan operations.

“Firstly, recognition of this award is equally shared with Perseus Mining Ltd, Orway Mineral Consultants (OMC), Orway IQ and Mintek (suppliers of MillStar) who were integral partners within the consortium” says Pieter Strobos, Business Director of Process IQ and Chairman of Orway IQ.  “We are honoured to have been recognised for the collaborative work we have executed with the help of these partners; each have been instrumental in providing expert input to help improve grinding circuit performance for Perseus Mining’s Edikan gold mine. It is this collaborative partnership between METS companies and mining firms that clearly demonstrates a commitment to approaching industry and business opportunities collectively.”

METS Ignited CEO Adrian Beer says collaboration like this is a great example of what is achieved when companies across the industry come together to address specific industry challenges.  “It is the unique combination of mining knowledge and domain expertise, the practical application of technologies, and the latest digital skills in machine learning and data analytics to deliver another industry-leading solution for the global mining sector. “Our sector has a track record for successfully delivering new technology into industry, this has been the cornerstone for Australia’s leadership in the METS sector, and our world-class solutions will continue to be the catalyst for industry growth,” says Beer.

The METS Ignited Collaboration Award recognises the success of the collaboration efforts of Australian METS companies, mine operators and researchers working together to improve productivity, sustainability and efficiency.
