India’s leading domestic mining equipment manufacturer BEML Ltd has annoucned a major order from national coal mining giant Coal India Ltd for the supply of seven BH150E 150 ton (136 t) trucks and eight BH205E 205 ton (186 t) trucks under a “trial cum sale” deal along with an eight year spare parts contract. These dump trucks will be deployed at Coal India operating mine subsidiaries namely SECL’s Gevra Project and Northern Coalfields Ltd’s Amlohri & Nigahi Projects respectively. The total value of the order is INR 398 crore which equates to almost $53 million.
Indigenously designed and developed by BEML, these dump trucks are being manufactured at its Mysore complex. These products will address the growing demand for higher capacity equipment in the Indian mining industry, which has been dominated by 100 t class trucks as well as tipper trucks. BEML states: “These trucks have eco-friendly emissions certificate engines with electronic fuel management system to deliver maximum power. Its wide body design-higher value metric capacity and low body weight ensures high stability and productivity. A state-of-the-art AC drive system have been engineered to provide exceptional road performance with reduced maintenance. ” Key component supplier options for the trucks include a Tier 2 Cummins QSK60C 2,300 HP engine or MTU 12V4000C2 2,300 HP engine on the BH205E. The BH150E has a Tier 2 Cummins QSK50C 1,875 HP engine. Both trucks have Wabtec AC electric drive systems.
