China’s Shaanxi Tonly Heavy Industries starts testing all battery mining trucks in Zijinshan mines

On the morning of September 25, the handover ceremony of a fleet of Shaanxi Tonly Heavy Industries TLE90B 60 t class all-electric battery wide body mining test trucks was held at the Fujian Zijinshan Gold and Copper Mine, owned by global mining giant Zijin Mining, marking the official start of a battery electric mining truck field test project.

At the handover ceremony, Deputy Director of the Zijinshan Gold and Copper Mine Mining Plant, Wang Fuyuan, commented: “Tonly Heavy Industry TLE90B mining trucks are the first batch of pure electric trucks to enter the Zijinshan mining area. This test is of great significance. It has a very positive role in promoting energy conservation and environmental protection in Zijinshan mining area, building green mines, and improving industrial efficiency.”

The Li-ion batteries on the trucks were supplied by Ningde Times New Energy Technology (CATL). The fleet of trucks will be operated by contractor Fujian Xinhuadu Engineering Company, also part of Zijin Mining, an engineering company providing services include mining engineering design, mine planning, mine drilling and blasting and ore extraction, loading and transportation.

Wang Yong, Deputy Director of the Technical Centre of Tonly, introduced the performance and characteristics of the truck: “The TLE90B pure electric mining truck is newly developed by Tonly Heavy Industries to meet the requirements of long-distance and heavy loads. It is a product that meets the national green mine construction requirements…this product inherits the mature and excellent chassis characteristics of the TL875 model of Tonly…they are a key project in response to the construction of the Xinhuadu Engineering Company’s green mines, and are also a landmark product of Tonly Heavy Industries. It has the characteristics of high efficiency and energy saving, low maintenance cost, easy control, high safety factor, completely realizes zero pollution, zero emission, long cruising range, sufficient power, and can function well in a variety of conditions such as high cold, high heat and high humidity.”
