Railway specialist Railcare has signed a new ten-year contract with mining company Kaunis Iron AB worth SEK740 million. The contract will take effect from 16 November 2021 to 16 November 2031 and will replace the previous contract from 2018. The previous contract will continue to apply until 15 November 2021. Up until 31 October 2020, Railcare has performed 1,400 shipments of iron ore for Kaunis Iron AB.
Equivalent to the previous contract, the wagons to be used during the contract period are owned by Kaunis Iron AB, while the locomotives and shunting locomotives will be provided by Railcare T. Railcare will run two train journeys per day, seven days a week with a volume of approximately 2.3 Mt of iron ore per year.
