Doosan Infracore Europe has launched what is says is the industry’s first wheel loader ‘transparent bucket’ system. The transparent bucket is a system that allows the wheel loader operator to see blind spots in front of the bucket on the machine, using the monitor in the cab. The innovative system records images in front of the wheel loader with top and bottom front-loaded cameras and shows combined images on the cab monitor in real time using a curved projection method.
Owing to blind spots caused by the buckets on wheel loaders, the area in front of the machines has been considered an area of major concern in terms of safety. With the new Doosan transparent bucket function, however, the operator can easily check the blind spots in front of the bucket via the cab monitor, to increase safety and prevent accidents. Another advantage of the transparent bucket system is that it can significantly improve work efficiency by providing a forward-view perspective for the driver during loading/unloading or when carrying materials such as aggregates, sand and soil.
Doosan Infracore is the first company in the world to develop and apply a front projection function with the transparent bucket for construction machines and has applied for patents in Korea, North America, Europe and China. Doosan has also developed further sophisticated cutting-edge safety systems for the company’s machinery range, such as the around view monitor (AVM) system, that can observe the machines’ surroundings, and a rear warning system using ultrasonic sensors, which have both received very favourable responses from customers.
A Doosan Infracore spokesperson commented: “As machinery and site safety standards continue to be significantly raised around the world, advanced safety systems have become a key factor in selecting equipment. We plan to continue developing safety features that can protect drivers and other workers on site, and we aim to be at the forefront in creating construction sites that are safer and accident-free.”
While the company is mainly focussed on construction class machines, its line-up is used in many smaller mines and industrial minerals operations. A mining development and civil engineering company in Thailand recently ordered a total of 38 excavators and wheel loaders, while a miner in Oman ordered a total of 27 machines.
Doosan Infracore recently launched the new ‘DL-7’ wheel loader range, “introducing a complete line of next generation machines with an award-winning design, driven by powerful new Stage V compliant engines and providing higher productivity, increased fuel efficiency and a low cost of ownership, coupled with a fantastic environment and experience for the operator.” first phase of the DL-7 range introduction, seven new models are being launched – the DL280-7, DL320-7, DL380-7, DL420-7, DL480-7, DL550-7 and DL580-7, with four more models – the DL200-7, DL220-7, DL250-7 and DL420CVT-7 being added in 2021.
The 34.49 t DL580-7 with a 6.4 m3 bucket has a lot of potential in the mining sector – it has a Scania DC13 engine that provides required power while meeting Stage V environmental regulations. “Impressive breakout force and high traction make penetration easy and allow you to tackle the hardest materials. Powerful hydraulic system makes work quick and efficient…the combination of these features gives Doosan wheel loaders excellent penetration power, ensuring optimum bucket load in each cycle.”
