FAM GmbH Germany says it recently commenced activities to further develop and strengthen its FAM Canada office in Calgary, as part of its commodity diversification and organic growth strategy, stating: “With this important strategic step, FAM is able to further support our key customers located in North America, both for new builds and service.”
“With this step we localise further competences to strengthen the value creation for our clients. This goes hand in hand with manufacturing of some key-components in our Magdeburg workshop”, highlighted Stefan Hotz, Director Sales FAM Group. “We are looking forward to combining our core technologies with growing local capacity in material handling and mining including a stronger presence with related service competence, to generate value for our clients,” Thomas Koenecke, President FAM Canada commented.
Major projects in Canada for FAM in recent years include design and supply of two hopper and conveyor facilities for the Kearl oil sands mine, part of Imperial Oil. The project, called the Kearl Supplemental Crusher, included two plants, each including a feed hopper, sizer, heavy-duty apron feeder and stationary belt conveyor.
The FAM group is a medium-sized organisation, headquartered in Magdeburg, Germany, with a proven history as a manufacturer of modern bulk material handling systems. FAM says it is well-acquainted with the challenges facing its mining industry and understands the important role of local competences to have close contacts with its clients. With the development of the office in Canada, FAM continues to invest in Americas, after its successful establishment in Chile and Brazil.
