BKT hits the big time with supply of 57 in giant radial mining tyres to SECL

BKT has announced an important order in the OTR sector, and one marking its first foray into the commercial market for ultra large mining tyres, with the supply of 42 giant radial EARTHMAX SR 468 tyres, in the 40.00R57 size, to Coal India company SECL (South Eastern Coalfields Ltd). The first batch of six tyres made for SECL has already been shipped, while the further two batches will reach the customer within a week.

The company said: “This is an important milestone which consolidates BKT’s positioning in the mining sector, confirming the Group as a key player for the OTR industry.” The EARTHMAX SR 468 is a 57 in tyre – the largest ever made by BKT – and is manufactured at the BKT plant in Bhuj, India. It is designed to equip rigid dump trucks operating in the most hostile conditions.

“This huge tyre is characterised by being particularly resistant to attacks and punctures, thanks to its all steel structure and it is therefore suitable for rough and muddy terrain. Winning features of the EARTHMAX SR 468 are the special tread design and its compound, both created to limit the heat generated. The E-4 tread depth provides extreme resistance in highly challenging conditions.”

This order, featuring this exceptionally sized tyre, BKT said “rewards the group’s willingness to enter and invest in the giant tyre segment, a choice driven by the requests and feedback, which the brand receives directly from users every day.”

With its offer of over 2,700 tyres, BKT says it will continue to develop new solutions in this segment in order to meet all the needs and requirements of professionals in industries including mining.
