The Electric Mine 2022 mine electification technology conference taking place on February 17-18 in Stockholm, Sweden

Posted on 7 Feb 2022

Despite all the challenges of business travel and changing regulations due to COVID-19 – The Electric Mine 2022 conference, mine electrification focused event and one of the few dedicated face-to-face mining technology conferences to be scheduled in recent years, is now just over a week away in Stockholm, Sweden, being held 17-18 February at the Radisson Blue Waterfront Hotel. It is organised by International Mining through sister company International Mining Events.

Yes, virtual and hybrid events have played an important role since the pandemic took hold in early 2020, but nothing beats in-person networking to deepen business relationships and move cooperation and sometime actual contracts forward. And we felt that as the COVID situation is changing, the time was right to run this event.

It would seem that the industry agrees. The registered delegates number has already exceeded 250 and is on track to near or reach 300 – almost double the attendance of the first Electric Mine conference in Toronto, Canada, in 2019. That number includes numerous attendees from all of the world’s leading mining equipment OEMs including Sandvik, Epiroc, Komatsu, Liebherr, Caterpillar and others, plus key technology suppliers including ABB, Dana, Danfoss Editron and Hitachi Energy. Large delegations from Scandinavia’s two largest mining groups – Boliden and LKAB – are attending, as are delegates from at least 15 other mining companies.

The speaker line-up includes a keynote presentation from Henrik Ager, Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions President; plus talks from a broad range of stakeholders, from associations and groups like the Electric Mine Consortium, the GMG and the ICMM; the latest on research projects like NEXGEN SIMS; experiences and planned rollouts from some important major mining groups; and, of course, machine and technology updates from all the major OEMs and technology providers. Several new BEV models are even set to be unveiled at the event.

There is still time to register – this can be done by clicking through to the event site here – don’t miss this opportunity to really get to grips with the latest in global mine electrification trends, developments, equipment, strategies and technologies. International Mining Events conferences are known for being mainly attended by decision makers – especially those with mine operational management and procurement, product development and mining engineering/planning roles.
