HELLA to improve mine lighting safety further with launch of second generation of smart RokLUME 280N worklight

The lighting and electronics specialist HELLA says it has further developed the popular RokLUME 280N worklight for mining and other heavy-duty applications and is launching the second product generation with six illumination variants in mid-2022. The illumination properties were further improved in the course of further development with six variants and adapted to different, specific work scenarios.

The RokLUME 280N Gen 2 series work lights it says are particularly well suited to harsh mining environments. Optimum illumination of the work area is particularly important on rough terrain so that the driver can react to obstacles and hazards in good time. With a very high light output of up to 4,400 lumens, the RokLUME 280N Gen 2 worklights “not only offer better visibility and thus increased safety, but also improved productivity, since the light is similar to daylight and the driver can work with less fatigue. The energy consumption is only 50 watts. Compared to halogen devices, this means a reduction in power consumption and thus contributes to the reduction of CO2.”

The RokLUME 280N Gen 2 is available in six illumination variants, with each work light suited to a specific work environment. The worklights with coloured lenses in amber and green are suitable, for example, for use in difficult visibility conditions such as fog, snowfall or dusty conditions. The new ZEROGLARE variant, which is patent pending, has been equipped with a new reflector and an innovative optical system.

The lighting system itself has been further refined and creates a sharp horizontal cut-off at 0° in order to bring the light exactly to the ground in front of the vehicle. The cut-off line ensures that oncoming drivers are not dazzled. In addition, the near-field illumination has been significantly improved to provide more light in the width and front of the vehicle. Another variant has a more far-reaching illumination through a greatly improved light distribution for optimal visibility in the distance. A completely new addition is a version with tunnel floodlights, which HELLA says creates a perfect light image underground.

The housing of the RokLUME 280N Gen 2 headlights is made of high-quality die-cast aluminum with a corrosion-resistant NanoSafe coating that is optimally adapted to harsh environments. All worklights in the series can be mounted standing, hanging or horizontally thanks to a centred, robust bracket. “The different mounting options ensure ideal and homogeneous illumination even in environments with high vibration requirements. With its compact size, the new RokLUME 280N Gen 2 work light is an absolute all-round talent, ideal for all mining vehicles and heavy-duty machines.”
