Alimak leverages rack and pinion tech in latest industrial elevator range

Posted on 11 Apr 2022

Following the successful introduction in Asia, Alimak has launched a new industrial elevator range built on Alimak’s tried and trusted rack and pinion technology.

The all-new ALIMAK SL-H is a passenger and freight elevator, suitable for tough operating environments including mines.

The new ALIMAK SL-H Industrial Elevator range is available in three sizes and offers payload capacities from 1,000 kg to 3,000 kg.

Built on the rack and pinion principle, the elevator has its drive mounted on top of the car. This technology enables the elevator car to climb up and down the mast at a controlled speed, without the need for a shaft or machine room.

Constructed from aluminium and hot-dipped galvanised steel, the robust design minimises downtime and operating costs, while withstanding extreme operational and environmental challenges, according to Alimak. Optimised for comfort, the drive unit provides smooth acceleration and deceleration, offering accurate levelling at landings irrespective of load.

Alimak SL-H elevators are push-button operated from the car and landings, via a touch screen control system, which can be adjusted based on frequency of use, application and number of landings.

A unique dual solution is also available, featuring two independent elevator cars operating on a single guide mast column, reducing material costs, installation work and on-site space, while improving traffic movement and doubling productivity, the company said.

The Alimak SL-H range incorporates all the safety features that have made Alimak elevators a benchmark for the industrial elevator industry worldwide, it added.
