TAKRAF supplies new bucketwheel reclaimers to NLCIL plus will relocate additional machines

Recent projects for NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) have drawn on TAKRAF’s capability to deliver technology and aftermarket expertise. NLCIL is one of the country’s leading Central Public Sector Enterprises, one of the largest miner in India and one of the country’s largest power producers. It operates three opencast coal mines of total installed capacity 28.5 Mt/y at Neyveli, Tamilnadu.

The first project concerns the supply of two bucket-wheel reclaimers. The two rail-mounted bucket-wheel reclaimers, each with a theoretical handling rate of more than 2,750 m3/h, are being supplied under a turnkey contract, with handover anticipated for 2023. TAKRAF India previously supplied a stacker to NLCIL for the same project, which has been commissioned and is running successfully.

In a first for TAKRAF India, the company was also contracted to relocate a stacker and a reclaimer, supplied by another OEM. This turnkey contract is expected for completion by 2023 and covers dismantling of the equipment for a 4,000 t/h rail-mounted stacker with tripper car and a 2,000 t/h rail-mounted reclaimer, followed by re-erection at a new location some 5 km from the existing yard. The scope also includes reconditioning the existing reducer (gearbox) and supplying new spares for the reducer, such as slew bearings.

Selvakumar Devendran, Manager – Sales TAKRAF India, had this to say regarding this slew of new orders from the same important client: “These contract awards are testimonies to the continuing working relationship between TAKRAF India and NLCIL.  We are also delighted to be growing our maintenance activities for our supplied equipment’s, as well as our aftermarket business and look forward to increasing TAKRAF footprint. Thank you to all stakeholders and colleagues for their hard work, commitment and effort.”
