BEV charging company Kempower looks to expand in Europe and the US

Finnish BEV charger technology specialist Kempower says is currently exploring different options to expand the company’s EV fast charging production capacity in Europe. The aim is that the new capacity will be operational by the end of the year 2025.

Mining equpiment is one of its focus areas, and in November 2021 it signed a deal to provide Epiroc with its Kempower Satellite systems, Kempower Movable chargers and ChargEye software. Normet also offers fast charging solutions powered by Kempower for Normet’s SmartDrive range of fully electric mining and tunnelling equipment.

Kempower says it has grown rapidly in Europe during the year 2022. The company will continue to expand its business also in the future to meet market demand. Kempower currently has close to 14,000 square metres of production, laboratory, and office space across two factories in Lahti, Finland.

“According to our recent survey of European EV drivers, the Kempower brand has strengthened in the markets: Kempower is a good match and highly-valued charging brand for European heavy users. We want to do our best to meet market demand, which is why we are now exploring options to expand production in Europe. We believe that our proven agile and scalable production model is a good basis for meeting demand in the years to come,” states Tomi Ristimäki, CEO, Kempower.

In parallel with the European expansion plans, Kempower continues to establish operations in the United States. Kempower targets to establish operations in the US by the end of the year 2023. The plan includes Kempower’s own legal entity and a local assembly of Kempower’s charging solutions.
