Enefit Power, a subsidiary of state-owned energy group Eesti Energia, is investing in a fleet of 20 Sandvik loaders for its operations in Estonia.
Enefit is the biggest energy producer and also one of the biggest producers of renewable energy in the Baltics. The company is a major underground oil shale miner & has selected Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions to supply 16 Toro™ LH410 loaders and four Toro™ LH515i loaders. Enefit is investing in new equipment to partly replace an ageing fleet as well as to meet increased production volume targets. Delivery of the loaders is planned to begin in Q2 2023 and continue through 2024. Sandvik says it will support Enefit throughout the commissioning of the new loaders on their journey towards more productive and efficient operations.
“When acquiring new equipment to replace existing units, increasing efficiency and reducing environmental impact are top considerations,” said Andres Vainola, CEO of Enefit Power. “Several production processes run 24/7 at Enefit Power in order to supply our customers with raw materials, so we need machines that are reliable, productive, convenient and safer for employees to use, and that have a minimal impact on the environment. The new technology from Sandvik meets these criteria.
”Both loader models are part of Sandvik’s mid-size offering, featuring respective 10- and 15-t payload capacities. Toro™ LH515i is the newest i-series model in Sandvik’s diesel powered loader fleet, introduced in 2021.
Sandvik adds: “The smaller Toro™ LH410 loader has recently benefitted from significant design upgrades, and it is fully comparable with Sandvik’s larger loaders in terms of intelligence, performance and reliability. For both models, the key design improvement contributor has been customer feedback, gathered systematically over the years.”
