Enerpac to highlight shovel, mining machinery and vehicle maintenance options at MINExpo

Posted on 18 Sep 2024

Shovel, mining machinery and vehicle maintenance are the themes of the Enerpac booth at next week’s MINExpo 2024. A leader in hydraulic tools for demanding environments, Enerpac will be showcasing a wide range of tools and lifting systems for mining projects in Las Vegas.

The Enerpac stand will feature the SCJ-Series cube jack, hydraulic cylinders and controlled lifting pumps that, the company says, are playing an increasing role in enabling efficient and safe shovel maintenance. On average, mining shovels need to be overhauled every two years due to wear on the tracks and bearings. Repair and maintenance involves either jacking the undercarriage or separating the shovel cab from the undercarriage. Stability is crucial. Enerpac jacking technology is a proven approach for safe lifting. It offers three methods: cylinder jacking, cube jacks and jack-up systems. In all cases, synchronous lifting is used to preserve shovel stability and maintenance crew safety.

The SCJ-50 Self-Locking Cube Jack, which will be on display, is a compact and portable hydraulic solution for incremental lifting and lowering of heavy loads. Cube Jacks are available in either 50 t (SCJ-50) or 100 t (SCJ-100) capacity which, when using multiple units, can lift loads of several hundred tonnes to heights of 3 m. The compact size and portability of the Self-Locking Cube Jack offers a powerful solution for numerous mining applications, such as equipment maintenance, vehicle unloading or jacking a transformer, module, or bridge. The SFP-Series Split Flow Hydraulic Pumps, also on display, are Enerpac’s solution for multi-point lifting and lowering applications, involving the Cube Jacks and hydraulic cylinders, where uneven loads need to be positioned equally.

The SFP-Series pump can also be used to operate jacking and sliding system. For moving heavy loads short distances during equipment installation and maintenance, Enerpac will be showing the LH400, 400-t capacity Low Height Skidding System – a modular system that can slide heavy loads over a pre-constructed track. The Low-Height Skidding System comprises a series of skid beams moved by hydraulic push-pull units.

For truck maintenance, the Enerpac Pow’R-LOCK is, Enerpac says, the gold standard for safe lifting, lowering and holding. It is a self-locking jack with a lifting capacity up to 200 t. For safe mechanical cribbing of a lifted load, accessory Locking U-Rings can be placed around an extended piston.

Working remotely is common to many mining projects. The Enerpac booth will feature the latest in portable, battery-powered pumps including the new SC-Series Cordless Battery Pump. Compact, fast, precise and with an extended battery runtime, the lightweight SC-Series cordless battery pump allows operators to undertake larger jobs in difficult to access and remote workspaces. With the ‘Enerpac Connect’ app, SC-Series pump operators can instantly access job-specific usage data for traceability and improved precision, as well as a knowledge base of tool information.

The Enerpac booth will also feature the new RSL-Series Low Profile and Square Drive Hydraulic Torque Wrenches providing, Enerpac says, a simple and robust solution for bolting applications. The drive unit is equipped to operate both a square drive head and a low-profile hexagon cassette for usage in tight spaces. Enerpac torque wrenches, together with the Enerpac range of Cordless Torque Pumps, are designed for applications where a power supply is not available, or extension cords present safety or mobility issues. Whether in the field or facility, the combination of portability, productive fastening speed and battery run time will increase the efficiency of any job, the company claims.

For bigger vehicle maintenance projects, the Enerpac booth features the new Enerpac LGH3100 Hydraulic Lock-Grip Puller. Engineered to meet these challenges, it enables operators to remove heavy and stubborn items with minimal damage. Featuring a smooth action scissor lift, synchronized grip jaws and an intuitive operator station, it allows a single operator to remove large wheel shafts, bearings, and couplers.

The centrepiece of the Enerpac booth at MINExpo will be the multifunctional Enerpac 10 t Wheeled Toolbox Set including a 10-t capacity general-purpose cylinder, two 10-t low-height cylinders, and a 10-t hollow plunger cylinder for pulling jobs, a handpump and the essential components in an industrial-strength aluminum container.
