Recently, China’s Wuxi Boton and iron ore miner Roy Hill formalised a new Conveyor Belt and Services Partnership Agreement in Wuxi, further strengthening their collaboration. This partnership not only continues their work in conveyor belt supply and related services but also introduces innovative tools like intelligent monitoring equipment and digital management platforms. Together, they are aiming to advance a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) innovative cooperation model.
Roy Hill, a leading global iron ore producer, operates one of Australia’s largest single iron ore mines and a port located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Since 2022, Boton has been in discussions with Roy Hill to provide products and services that ensure safe, efficient, and stable operation of its iron ore mine and port. These discussions have focused on delivering high-quality, value-added, and durable products and services. Subsequently, Boton successfully became the exclusive service provider for Roy Hill’s Port Hedland Port operation from which high quality iron ore is shipped worldwide.
In this deeper cooperation, Wuxi Boton will further utilise its full-stack integrated solution advantage to provide Roy Hill with comprehensive intelligent conveyor services.
Wuxi Boton says it consistently prioritises “creating value for its customers by utilising intelligent monitoring equipment and digital management platforms,” enabling real-time monitoring and predictive analysis of conveyor systems, significantly enhancing their reliability and lifespan. Its focus is on reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), boosting production efficiency, lowering operational costs, increasing safety, and aiding mining enterprises in achieving a green transformation. This approach it says provides a robust guarantee to navigate future market changes.
In the future, Wuxi Boton adds that it will continue to learn from Roy Hill’s advanced mining management concepts and further improve its own operational efficiency and service quality. The company states: “In our collaboration with Roy Hill, we have been greatly impressed by their ‘knowledge-based organisation.’ Every team member at Roy Hill exemplifies professionalism, dedication, and a commitment to continuous learning. They actively embrace advanced technologies and consistently innovate through intelligent applications and efficiency optimisation, which enhances production efficiency and reduces waste.”
At the signing ceremony, Wuxi Boton’s Chairman Bao Zhifang stated: “We are witnessing the signing of the ‘Conveyor Belt and Service Partnership Agreement’ between Boton and Roy Hill, which is not only a new starting point for our cooperation but also an important moment as we join forces to embark on a new journey.”
Roy Hill’s Manager International Sourcing – Namejs Kins also expressed his gratitude: “I’d like to sincerely thank the Boton and Roy Hill teams for their dedication, assistance, tenacity, and extra efforts. Boton, as our strategic partner, provides us with the critical products we need to mine.”
Wuxi Boton is well established in the mining sector with its conveyor solutions – clients include BHP for whom its supplied the world’s first carbon neutral conveyor belts to the Spence copper mine in Chile in 2022. Wuxi Boton supplies high-quality conveyor belts to BHP assets in both Australia and Chile and the two companies signed a contract renewal in May 2024.
In June 2024, Wuxi Boton and Rio Tinto held a grand renewal signing ceremony, marking the official start of a new chapter of cooperation that spans eight years. The Chinese supplier said this renewal is not only an affirmation of the past five years of collaborative achievements but also a firm commitment to future joint development.
Wuxi Boton’s products also support all seven of Codelco’s copper mines in Chile, it says adding value by enhancing operational efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
