Eldorado Gold’s team at the Lamaque Complex in Quebec, Canada, achieved a milestone this month by pouring the one-millionth ounce of gold since starting commercial production in 2019, following record gold production in 2024.
From its first ounce of production to today, the Lamaque Complex has prided itself on being an integral part of the local community, striving for continuous improvement and thinking about the future, the company says.
Recently, Eldorado introduced teleremote technology to its Quebec operations which allows for greater production efficiency, and improved health and safety for its staff.
Lamaque was the first of Eldorado’s mines to implement teleremote equipment with the introduction of AutoMine® for Sandvik equipment and Cat Command for underground for Caterpillar equipment. The mine currently operates Sandvik and Caterpillar LHDs and is in the process of adding Sandvik haul trucks. Eldorado is also implementing autonomous tramming for its teleremote haul trucks at Lamaque.
The company concluded: “Looking ahead, we have a significant opportunity at our Lamaque Complex. In December, we announced our inaugural mineral reserve at Ormaque, with 619,000 oz of gold. With the development of the Ormaque deposit, we will be adding a second underground mine to the Lamaque Complex, which provides operational flexibility and efficiency as we leverage the existing plant and infrastructure. It also supports continuing to build on the benefits of the Lamaque Complex for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue for years to come.”
