Epiroc is announcing the launch of a new diamond drilling core bit at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2025, being held March 2-5, 2025, in Toronto, Canada. Epiroc will launch the new HERO 8 at the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) during PDAC 2025, along with new versions and additions to existing products.
The new HERO 8 is the latest addition to the Fordia line of HERO diamond core bits. The HERO 8 was developed to fulfill the specific need in the market for a bit that excels in medium-hard to hard ground conditions with a Mohs hardness rating of 5.5 to 7.
“We are excited to bring the HERO 8 to market. The HERO 8 represents the culmination of extensive research, development, and rigorous testing. Our engineers and field experts have worked tirelessly to ensure that this new bit not only meets but exceeds industry standards,” said Luca Arnaldi, Epiroc’s Exploration and Geoscience Marketing Manager.
In addition to the Hero 8, Epiroc will also be showcasing the soon-to-be launched Diamec Automated Rod Magazine (ARM) – taking automation to the next level. This new product it says will minimise operator fatigue, provide safer work environment, and boost productivity. The magazine enables drill strings to be tripped out fully automatically to pre-set position and tripped in with minimal input from the operator.
Keeping with its commitment to help customers ‘Accelerate the Transformation’ in mining & construction, Epiroc will also be showcasing its electrification solutions, which includes a fleet of battery machines and the infrastructure needed to support integration on site. Digitalisation solutions will also be included in the booth, giving attendees the chance to learn about reliable connectivity offerings with managed infrastructure and network services.
Other new products being introduced at PDAC include a ‘P’ size of the DiscovOre Prime, a coring system with built-in safety features that promises a faster descent time, along with a ‘B’ size of the Arrow 3S Click Release, a product that offers improved reliability and safety when drillers need to release the overshot in the borehole. A new surface Ultra-Deep water swivel with a 50,000 lb capacity will also be showcased.
“At Epiroc, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of drilling technology. We are constantly exploring new materials, designs, and techniques to enhance our product offerings. These new products are great examples of our commitment to providing the best possible tools for our clients,” added Arnaldi.
Attendees will be able to find the Fordia series of products at the Epiroc corporate booth, #723 at PDAC, along with brands such as Schramm Powered by Epiroc. In addition, attendees will be able to find Corescan Powered by Epiroc at booth #322, where it will be launching the Corephoto, a new addition to its line of geological solutions that can capture precise images of core samples.
