Turner Mining Group expands phosphate mining scope with Bayer

Posted on 25 Apr 2025

Turner Mining Group has announced a newly awarded long-term mining services contract and expanded scope of work with P4 Production LLC, a Bayer subsidiary, assuming responsibility for mining services at the Blackfoot Bridge Mine, Ballard Mine, and Caldwell Canyon Mine in Southeastern Idaho beginning January 2026.

The contractor stated: “This new phase builds on Turner’s ongoing relationship with P4 at their Quartzite Quarry, further strengthening a trusted, values-driven partnership between the two companies.”

Located in the heart of Idaho’s historic phosphate district, the mines are a cornerstone for the region where mining has supported a legacy of multigenerational opportunities for local families and businesses. Turner Mining Group’s role in the district it says reflects a continued commitment to responsible, modern mining, with a focus on industry, community, and environmental stewardship.

“We’re genuinely excited to take on these new opportunities and continue growing our presence in the region,” said Tucker Jensen, Vice President of Operations at Turner Mining Group. “This expansion is a chance to deepen our partnership with Bayer and keep building on the shared values that have made our work together so successful. As America’s trusted mining services provider, we’re proud to bring our commitment to safety, reliability, and collaboration to an even bigger stage in the great state of Idaho.”

The scope of work involves traditional hard rock mining but includes the requirement for very selective mining techniques to boost the phosphate ore quality and resource recovery. In addition, the landscape of the region is vast, and the high-quality ore needs to be transported long distances to P4’s centralised processing facilities. The focus is on optimising long-term performance while minimising environmental impact, ensuring the site continues to serve as a vital source of critically-important and domestically produced industrial minerals.

“The phosphate district in Southeastern Idaho isn’t just another spot on the map for us, it’s a place with deep roots and real impact in a region that’s sustained livelihoods and shaped communities for generations,” said Keaton Turner, Founder and President. “We’re proud to help carry that forward by bringing fresh energy, dependable service, and a workforce that understands the value of what’s being built here.”

Turner’s presence in the region will continue to prioritise local employment, partnerships with local and regional vendors, and engagement with community stakeholders. “The relationship is forged on a strong partnership model where Turner Mining Group operates as a true extension of P4’s organisation.”

As the demand for domestically-sourced industrial minerals continues to rise, projects like P4 Production’s mining operations are becoming increasingly vital to the strength and security of US supply chains. “Turner’s involvement not only supports P4’s production goals, but also contributes to the broader mission of sustaining American agriculture, reducing reliance on imported resources, and ensuring that critical materials are mined responsibly and efficiently on home soil.”

Turner stated that the expansion reflects the strong foundation of trust and alignment between P4 and Turner Mining Group. “It also reinforces Turner’s position as a forward-thinking contractor delivering full-service mining solutions across the country.”
