DHL Supply Chain Australia says it has been appointed as the strategic third-party logistics (3PL) partner for Metso, as the company expands its footprint in Queensland.
Under the agreement, DHL will manage Metso’s warehousing operations from Berrinba in Brisbane, supporting inbound logistics, storage and outbound movement of equipment and machinery critical to Australia’s mining industry.
DHL’s Wembley Park facility offers a combination of indoor and outdoor space within the growing campus in Berrinba, providing scalable, flexible warehousing solutions to support Metso’s operations across Australia’s Eastern Seaboard, DHL says. The sustainable warehouse facility is designed to accommodate Metso’s diverse product portfolio, ranging from small precision components to large, heavy machinery requiring specialised handling equipment.
This partnership marks DHL’s entry into providing comprehensive 3PL supply chain solutions for Australia’s mining and energy sector. It also strengthens the longstanding relationship between DHL and Metso, which extends across Indonesia and South Africa.
DHL Supply Chain Australia & New Zealand CEO, Steve Thompsett, said: “Metso is a pioneer in innovations that make mining more efficient and sustainable. We’re excited to support their Queensland expansion, leveraging our global expertise and strong local capabilities to enhance the speed, accuracy and resilience of their operations. This partnership reflects the trust in DHL’s proven capabilities in the mining sector and our commitment to supporting Metso’s long-term strategy and presence in Australia.”
Metso’s Vice President for Australia East, Gavin Pasin, said: “We are excited to expand our warehousing capabilities in the Australia East region through our partnership with DHL Supply Chain. This new state‑of‑the‑art facility, strategically located in southern Queensland, will enable us to meet increased warehousing capacity needs and enhance our ability to serve customers more effectively. As a trusted partner for our customers, we also collaborate with proven supply chain partners and experts in their fields. Sustainability is core to how we operate and working with responsible partners like DHL Supply Chain supports our efforts to lower value chain greenhouse gas emissions towards a more efficient, low-carbon supply chain.”
DHL’s scope of services includes inbound and outbound logistics, storage and business-as-usual warehouse operations. These services are supported by 24/7 on-call service levels, enhanced visibility tools, advanced inventory tracking systems and technology-driven solutions that deliver data-driven insights to improve operational efficiency. The partnership also aligns with both organisations stated sustainability objectives, including the use of on-site solar power and other renewable electricity sources for the warehouse operations.
