GR Engineering Services Limited has been appointed preferred contractor by Venturex Sulphur Springs Pty Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Develop Global Limited in relation to the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the 1.5 Mt/y Sulphur Springs copper-silver-zinc project, in Western Australia.
The project is 144 km to the south-east of Port Hedland, with the scope of works comprising the design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning.
The estimated contract value is A$295 million ($207 million). An early works agreement has been executed and ordering of long-lead items and engineering works have previously commenced. The EPC contract is expected to be executed shortly.
The project award follows Develop making final investment decisions and securing funding for the development of both Sulphur Springs and the Pioneer Dome lithium project, also in Western Australia.
Develop completed the Updated DFS in October 2025, which included declaration of an ore reserve of 8.8 Mt at 5.4% Zn, 1.1% Cu, 0.2% Pb, 21 g/t Ag and 0.1 g/t Au. The Updated DFS contemplated underground mining and treatment through a process plant at a nameplate capacity of 1.5 Mt/y to produce separate copper-silver and zinc concentrates for sale under an offtake agreement. Develop has stated an expected capital expenditure for the project of A$450 million.
Commenting on the appointment as preferred contractor, Tony Patrizi, Managing Director of GR Engineering, said: “This award follows the successful commissioning of the Woodlawn copper-zinc project in 2025 and is a strong endorsement of GR Engineering’s proven process design record and EPC delivery capability. We look forward to continuing to work with the Develop team on the successful and safe delivery of this important project as part of Develop’s growth strategy.”
