SANY’s first SY1250H mining excavator in Europe commissioned at Ugljevic coal mine

On May 27, SANY marked a milestone in the European market with the official delivery of its first SY1250H mining excavator in the continent to the Ugljevic coal mine in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a subsidiary of power company Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS).

The unit will serve large-scale open-pit coal mining operations. SANY says “this significant delivery marks the official entry of SANY’s 100-ton and above mining excavators into the high-end European market, which is known for its stringent industry standards.”

The mine operating company, RiTE Ugljevik, said the mine is richer for the arrival of the SANY SY1250H, which will bear the internal number one. It added: “SANY is a Chinese manufacturer of mining and construction machinery, otherwise a recognised global brand, with a major focus is on hydraulic excavators.” It says this unit was specially designed for the European market and fully meets all EU regulations and standards.

It added that the purchase of a new excavator represents a real step forward for the Ugljevic mine, especially considering that two other large excavators have seen recent downtime due to damage and maintenance issues.

The model is a medium class mining excavator, with a bucket volume of eight cubic metres, a diesel engine with a power rating of 567 kW, and weight of 127 t. The mine says excavator was quickly assembled in only one day because it arrived in three components, so only the boom with the bucket and the tracks needed to be assembled subsequently.

The ccommissioning of the excavator was attended by Luka Petrović, General Director of ERS. Žarko Novaković, Director of RiTE Uglјevik, said that the value of the excavator investment was about US$1.8 million, and that a third of this has been paid from advance funds.

Nebojša Cvjetković, RiTE Executive Director for Coal Production and Mine Development, stated that work is currently being carried out in parallel at the Istok 1 and Istok 2 mines, and that the reserves currently being exploited at Istok 1 amount to 600,000 t of coal.

The arrival of new equipment the mine says confirms its commitment to investing in the development of the operations, increasing productivity and creating better working conditions for mine employees.

As a flagship model in SANY’s mining excavator portfolio, the OEM says the SY1250H has “earned outstanding market recognition across Latin America and the Asia-Pacific. Boasting robust working performance and high equipment uptime, the model has delivered proven reliability in the harshest mining environments worldwide, winning consistent acclaim and trust from global mining customers.”

The successful European delivery of the SY1250H it adds “stands as solid proof of SANY’s solid technical strength in the 100-ton mining equipment segment, as well as high-end global market recognition of SANY excavators’ quality and brand value. Moving forward, SANY will continue to adapt to global market needs. With high-quality products and premium services, the company will partner with mining clients worldwide to build a greener, smarter future for the global mining sector.”
