Hawk Measurement Systems (HAWK), has announced the launch of its Senator H80 Radar Series, a new family of 80 GHz FMCW radar level transmitters designed to deliver exceptional accuracy, flexibility and cost-effective performance across liquid, slurries and solids applications, the company says.
The Senator H80 Radar Series brings together advanced radar technology and practical industrial design, offering plant operators a smarter alternative to over-engineered, high-cost level systems without sacrificing reliability or precision.
The Senator H80 Radar completes HAWK’s comprehensive level measurement offering, providing customers with a versatile, application-driven portfolio of technologies that no single-technology competitor can match, the company claims. By combining radar with HAWK’s established range of acoustic, ultrasonic, microwave, guided wave radar, fibre optic, laser and sonar solutions, customers can select the right technology for every application from a single trusted supplier.
At the heart of the Senator H80 Radar Series is 80 GHz FMCW radar technology, providing a narrow beam angle, superior signal clarity and reliable measurement in challenging conditions such as steam, dust, foam, turbulence and vapour.
The family includes two core models:
- Senator H80C (Compact Radar) — A lightweight, clever design ideal for tighter installations and moderate ranges up to 30m (98ft). It offers a cost-effective solution for tanks, sumps, and process vessels without compromising on 80GHz performance;
- Senator H80I (Integral Radar) — The industrial powerhouse of the series, built for the most demanding environments. It features robust housing, extended measuring ranges up to 120m (393.7ft) for liquids and 120m (393.7ft) for solids, and high-temperature versions capable of withstanding up to 260°C (500°F).
Together, they form a scalable radar platform that allows facilities to standardise on one technology across multiple applications and environments.
Unlike traditional high-frequency radar systems that come with high acquisition and lifecycle costs, the Senator Radar Series is engineered for a low cost per measuring point, making it ideal for both single-point installations and large-scale rollouts.
Graham Richards, Level expert for HAWK, said: “With the Senator H80 Radar Series, we wanted to remove the barrier that cost often creates, and this is high-accuracy radar level measurement that makes sense economically — whether you’re upgrading one tank or instrumenting an entire facility.”
Commissioning and operation are streamlined through Bluetooth connectivity, PC software and intuitive configuration tools, reducing set-up time and minimising the need for specialist expertise. The Senator H80I also features an integrated keypad and display for on-site configuration and diagnostics.
