There have been further developments with mining excavator exports from major Chinese OEMs. This month, SANY Group delivered its first two SY3000E electric mining excavators overseas to Jhonlin Baratama, one of Indonesia’s leading coal miners and mining contractors. SANY argues that it is more than just a product delivery, instead marking a new step in bringing large-scale mining electrification into on-site operations in the country.
Built for demanding open-pit mining applications, the SY3000E it says represents SANY’s latest advances in electric mining equipment. Equipped with a 900 kW electric drive system and an intelligent electro-hydraulic control system, it “delivers powerful digging performance, precise control, and the reliability required for continuous mining operations.”
Compared with conventional diesel machines, SANY says the SY3000E can reduce energy costs by up to 40% and maintenance costs by up to 56%, improving both efficiency and total cost of ownership. It has a 292 t operating weight, with a bucket capacity of 15 m3.
For Jhonlin Baratama, SANY says the decision was driven by practical business needs. “As haul distances continue to increase and fuel costs remain a major operational challenge, mining companies are looking for solutions that can boost productivity while controlling expenses. After evaluating the machine’s performance, the company identified the SY3000E as a strategic fit for its operational and sustainability goals.”
The successful deployment SANY says is also the result of years of R&D and field validation. Designed to perform in Indonesia’s high-temperature, high-humidity conditions, the SY3000E has undergone extensive testing to ensure durability, reliability, and productivity in some of the industry’s toughest environments.
The significance of this delivery it adds extends beyond two machines. “It reflects growing confidence in electric mining equipment and signals that electrification is becoming a viable path forward for heavy-duty mining operations. For SANY, it is another step toward helping customers build safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mines around the world.”
