JordProxa, a designer and supplier of modular solutions, says it has been selected by Rio Tinto for the supply of an integrated process plant to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate at the Rincon lithium project in Salta Province, Argentina.
This milestone contract involves modular design for key lithium processing technologies, including:
- Lithium chloride evaporation;
- Lithium carbonate crystallisation;
- Refining steps such as impurity removal, sodium carbonate dissolution, bi-carbonation, de-carbonation, effluent neutralisation and CO₂ recovery.
JordProxa will leverage its global expertise in crystallisation and evaporation technologies, modular plant solutions and sustainable engineering practices, it says. The design will prioritise operability, scalability and energy efficiency, aligning with Rio Tinto’s commitment to sustainable operations at Rincon.

Rio Tinto’s Rincon project is set to expand lithium production using direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology, minimising the environmental footprint while increasing lithium recovery efficiency.
