Metso says it has signed a three-year agreement for the supply of metallic liners for chute solutions to BHP’s Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) operations.
Under the terms of the contract, Metso will support WAIO operations with a suite of liner solutions, including its industry-leading XAlloy™ metallic as well as cast wear liners, among others.
Metso offers a wide range of protective chute lining solutions in multiple materials to suit challenging customer duties, with its lining solutions renowned for their ability to minimise downtime and thereby maximise throughput and productivity, it says.

Metso has a proven track record of delivering customised chute wear lining solutions for various mining applications, with a strong emphasis on safety, performance and durability. Xalloy wear linings, for example, are manufactured using state-of-the-art welding technology to apply a highly alloyed chromium carbide-based material to a mild steel backing plate, according to the company.
Metso says it has a solid manufacturing presence in Australia, featuring advanced foundry operations and specialised rubber and Poly-Met production. Additionally, the company has a significant service centre footprint in Australia, including Karratha in Western Australia, which is Metso’s largest service centre globally.
