All set for Poland’s biggest mining event for many years

More than 20,000 m2 of exhibition space, a record-breaking number of companies, official government delegations, visitors from all over the world – Expo Silesia, the exhibition facility located in Sosnowiec, will be the venue for the World Mining Exhibition MINING EXPO, September 9-12. It will be Poland’s largest expo dedicated to the mining industry to have been held in the last decade, in addition to being a fair event of great significance for the Polish economy.

MINING EXPO 2008 will be attended by major mining equipment producers. Special Joint Exhibits will be organised by companies from China, India, Australia, Turkey and Great Britain. There will also be exhibitors representing Bulgaria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, the USA. Thus, the mining industry of the world will be represented by a total of over 270 exhibitors from 23 countries. The exhibition will also attract organised groups of visitors – professionals from Eastern Europe. Official government delegations from countries such as India, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, South Africa and Laos have already confirmed their visit.

This fair event will be held in the new Exhibition Centre Expo Silesia in Sosnowiec, its organiser being Kolporter EXPO. “The interest in MINING EXPO that has been shown by companies from all over the world is enormous. In terms of attendance, we have broken the record which was set by the last mining EXPO in Tehran, and that of the previous fair in New Delhi,” says Tomasz Raczyński, President of Kolporter EXPO. Honourary patronage of the Exhibition MINING EXPO has been provided by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Waldemar Pawlak, and by the Minister of the Treasury, Aleksander Grad.

The World Mining Exhibition MINING EXPO constitutes part of the 21st International Mining Congress. Participants of the Congress – mining professionals, scientists and researchers from all over the world, will hold discussions in Cracow, Lubin, Bełchatów, Katowice and Wieliczka September 7-11. This year the Congress celebrates its 50th anniversary as it was in 1957 that this international institution, the World Mining Congress, was established. The main issues to be addressed are new mining techniques and technologies, while the theme for the debates will be New Challenges and Visions of Mining.
