New Swedish convention venue stimulates development of the mining industry

Posted on 22 Nov 2007

As IM December goes to print with a focus on mining in Sweden and Finland,, it is announced that Euro Mine Expo, an international event for the mining and associated industries, will be held next autumn for the first time ever. Skellefteå in northern Sweden will be the host city. "The aim is to create a recurring international venue of the highest calibre," says Lennart Gustavsson, Chairman of Georange. "Swedish mining and minerals industries are in the forefront and Skellefteå is in the heart of northern Europe’s ore production," says Margaretha Lundquist, CEO Nolia AB.

October 21 – 23, the Expolaris Congress Centre in central Skellefteå will host delegates from all over the world. Representatives from the exploration and mining industry will take part, as well as equipment manufacturers, consultants and service companies within the industry, entrepreneur companies and personnel from research and educational institutes, public authorities and municipalities. The organizers of the convention, the first of its kind in Sweden, are Georange and the trade fair and conference organiser, Nolia.

"The mining industry and its associated industries form an important development force for the international, regional, and local economy, for export revenues and for employment, especially in the more sparsely populated parts of the world. We will provide the industry participants with the best conceivable conditions for developing their operations," states Lundquist.

At the combined trade fair and conference participants will not only have the opportunity to showcase and be informed about new developments in technology, products and services, but also the chance to discuss business, build networks and attend seminars.

"In addition, the participants will be able to carry out field trips within the vibrant mining district we have here in the Skellefteå area. Among other possibilities, we will offer excursions to the Rönnskär smelter complex and to the Swedish Geological Survey Mineral Information Office in Malå, adds Gustavsson.
