Atlas Copco launches record 85 t underground truck

Posted on 24 Sep 2012

mt85.jpgOne of the highlights of a whole range of new equipment that is being launched at MINExpo 2012 this week is the new MT85 underground truck from Atlas Copco – with an 85 t capacity, it is by far the largest underground truck on the market, and comes after the company’s considerable success with the MT6020 model, which has seen installations throughout the world, from Hindustan Zinc to HudBay Minerals; while also being very popular with contract miners such as ACM and Barminco. The new record capacity machine is billed by Atlas Copco itself at the show as: “The world’s largest articulated Minetruck” and is equipped with two Cummins engines – a QSK19 and a smaller engine from the QSB range. More details on the specifications of the truck will follow later this week. The new truck has been kept firmly under wraps prior to the show, along with the new Pit Viper 311 plus a new version of the Rig Control System (RCS).
