Major Wire expands mining screen media dealer network

Posted on 17 Jan 2013

Montreal-based Major Wire Industries has signed a new agreement making Bates Sales Company its new mining and aggregate screen media authorised dealer covering eastern Missouri, northwest Arkansas and southern Illinois. The dealership offers all of Major Wire’s screen media solutions, including the advanced technology Flex-Mat 3 Self-Cleaning Screen Media in tensioned and modular versions and OptimumWire Woven Wire.

Bates has a total of 14 locations and 16 salesmen specialising in the mining and aggregate markets and states that it can quickly address customer needs on-site and provide experience-backed advice on how to address challenges properly the first time. As a full service dealer for more than 80 years to the mining market, Bates provides “quick turnaround machining, fabrication, on-site service and specialised training programs for customers.” Bates says its commitment to its customers is: “If it is critical to your operations, we will stock it for you.”

“The Bates team has an excellent reputation in their sales territory and can immediately start impacting customers with their value-added-service approach,” states Jean Leblond, Major Wire President. “Multiple employees have successfully solved screening challenges for many years and sold Major Wire’s screen media line for past employers. Their learning curve is almost nonexistent, as they can already go to a customer’s location, analyse the inefficiencies and provide solutions that will have a dramatic effect on production output and profits.”

“Our specialty for the past 80-plus years has been the service and support we provide to customers on-site based on their individual needs,” says Reynolds Blackburn, Bates Sales Company’s Vice President of Sales. “This market approach meshes well with Major Wire’s proven product line and the on-site services they now allow us to provide, such as the free Screen Maintenance Seminars, Screening Plant Audits and the Flex-Mat 3 Guarantee.”

Major Wire’s advanced Flex-Mat 3 High-Performance, Self-Cleaning Screen Media technology is available in a tensioned version as an alternative to traditional woven wire and a modular version designed to replace polyurethane and rubber modular screen panels. Independently vibrating wires increase product throughput by up to 40% over traditional woven wire or polyurethane panels by increasing screening action and open area and eliminating blinding, pegging and clogging. Flex-Mat 3 panels provide up to 30% more screen capacity than woven wire and up to 50% more screen capacity than polyurethane and rubber panels. Major Wire’s OptimumWire Woven Wire has a unique chemical makeup that provides up to 40% longer wear life when compared to traditional woven wire of the same diameter. Delivering the industry’s best combination of ductility, hardness and tensile strength, OptimumWire is less susceptible to breaking in high-impact conditions and with highly abrasive materials, so it lasts longer and minimises labor, maintenance and lost production costs.
