Ukrainian group supplies transformers to Kazakhmys operations

Posted on 11 Feb 2013

The largest Ukrainian manufacture of mining equipment, Mining Machines, which unites the engineering assets of System Capital Management (SCM), has supplied 12 KTPV-type transformer substations of various capacities to Kazakh copper mining giant Kazakhmys. The substations were made at Donetsk Energy Plant, which is part of Mining Machines.

Substations with the capacity of 400 and 630 kilovolt-amperes will operate at unspecified mines of Kazakhmys. The equipment has wheel pairs and power meters. “Kazakhstan is one of the important sales markets for us. For many years Mining Machines has been building mutually beneficial relations with leading Kazakh corporations. In 2012, the group made two fans for Kazakhmys,” Marketing and Sales Director Ihor Fomenko was quoted as saying. UMBH Ukrainian Machine Building Holding Limited (UMBH) registered in Cyprus is the holding company of Mining Machines Group.

Mining Machines has also recently bought the Svet Shakhtyora machine building plant located in Kharkiv. This acquisition will enhance competitive advantages of the company and increase export operations of the plant. Svet Shakhtyora will focus on production of chain-and-flight conveyors and plough units. This will help to strengthen technological and engineering areas  of the plant, which has been successfully producing this equipment for many  years. This will enable Mining Machines to offer clients longwall complexes. “As Mining Machines has got sales departments in Russia, Kazakhstan and Vietnam and pursues a new policy for entering the new markets, Svet Shakhtyora will be able to increase export operations,” says Igor Fomenko, Sales and Marketing Director of Mining Machines.
