RETSCH releases new bench top jaw crusher

Posted on 8 Apr 2013

RETSCH has released a new compact bench top model in its jaw crusher series. The BB 50 includes new features, such as the ability to set the speed between 550 ad 950 mi-1 to allow adaptation to sample requirements as well as an introduction of the ‘zero-point adjustment’ which helps to compensate for wear of the breaking jaws. The large hopper has been designed to facilitate material feed, and the capacity of the collecting receptacle has been doubled. The BB 50 includes a fold-back hopper which has been designed for easy removal without the use of tools, similarly to the crusher arm. The breaking jaws can also be replaced by the user.

The space-saving unit has been designed to fit on any laboratory bench and crush smaller sample volumes with a feed size of up to 40 mm and crushes to a final fineness of 0.5 mm, depending on the material properties. The breaking jaws and wearing plates are available in five different materials, which ensures neutral-to-analysis sample processing. RETSCH bench top crushers are used in applications such as mobile mine sampling labs. Feed material passes through the no-rebound hopper and enters the crushing chamber. Size reduction takes place in the wedgeshaped area between the fixed crushing arm and one moved by an eccentric drive shaft. The elliptical motion crushes the sample which then falls under gravity. As soon as the sample is smaller than the discharge gap width, it falls into a removable collector. The continuous gap width setting with scale digital display ensure optimal size reduction in accordance with the set gap width value.
