A cloud-based engineering drawing collaboration and management solution called RedEye Drafting was first developed by its namesake company in January 2012, and in July 2012 a beta version was released at the Mine Electrical Safety Conference in Brisbane. The system incorporates a workflow engine, designed to assist companies in adopting industry best practice engineering drawing management standards.
Since the beta release, 113 people in the mining and other heavy industry sectors have trialled RedEye Drafting and provided important industry feedback, including employees from companies such as BHPB, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Peabody, Bechtel, WorleyParsons, Joy Global, Curragh, AMEC, Aurecon, Hatch and Xstrata. BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance Peak Downs Mine went live with RedEye Drafting in February 2013 and Goodline Services have also been using the service on a project at Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.
RedEye Drafting is designed specifically for organisations in mining, engineering and other industries to reduce the cost of engineering drawing management by 70%; remove the risk and cost of working off the wrong version of drawings on projects, leading to a time, cost and materials saving “in the order of 6% of the project costs”; and improve engineering drawing workflow and collaboration between companies and on major projects.
